2 Turtles & a Pear

.
I used the Heather Bailey pear pincushion and turtle pincushion patterns to make a few Christmas gifts.
.

.
Here's what the pear looked like after I finished the sewing:
.

.
I used a combination of fiber-fill and flax seed for the filling.  I like using the flax seed because it adds some weight to the finished pear.

The pear was really quick and easy to make - I think I might make one for myself!  My Mom has a pear collection so I made this for her.
.

.
The turtle was a bit more complicaded than the pear.

I made one turtle for my sister and one for my 8 year old brother.  My nickname for him is 'turtle' so I thought it would be cute to give to him.  I have a few other sewing projects I need to post soon!

  1. i've only read the first 5 posts on this page and i'm already hooked! i love the pear pin cushion!

and the honey cinnamon butter - i wanted to make that so badly before christmas to send home with our family members but couldn't find any small jars like you and darby. all the stores told me it was out of season :(

next on to your gift cards and tags...how simple & they turned out so beautifully! where do you find such pretty patterns for your scrap paper?

  2. Hi Jen - thank you so much for stopping by my blog! Hopefully you will be able to make Darby's butter soon - it is SO good (and addicting!). I was glad I bought the jars when I did - the next time I looked for them @ the store they were out. I think 1/2 of the country is making Darby's recipe! As far as the paper, I found the red & white one I used for gift tags @ Michael's. The green & white one came from a local scrapbooking store. Thanks for the nice comments & Happy New Year!
