Real Simple Magazine published an article in their August 2011 issue on six affordable classic sofas. It got me thinking about a few of the sofas I have my eye one.
.
I am in love with the one pictured above. It is the Pierre Sofa from Z Gallerie. I just adore the green! It's hard to tell in this photo, but there is beautiful silver nail head trim along the arms and the base. Doesn't it look comfy? I think I could definitely sink into it. The sofa is made in North California and is $1200.00. I don't know about you, but when purchasing an upholstered piece, I really perfer those made in North America.

Another pretty one with nail head trim. This is the Griffin Sofa from Ballard Designs. I love the narrow arm and clean lines on this traditional sofa. The front legs are tapered and are finished with antique brass casters. Price starts at $1099.00.
.
.
This is the Barrington Sofa from Crate & Barrel. Again, narrow arm and nail head trim. I think I see a trend here? Clean lines and I think it would be pretty hard to get tired of this pretty sofa. On special right now for $1444.15.

.
Above is the Eugene Sofa from Room & Board. I love Room & Board - great quality and well made pieces. This sofa is obviously more contemporary but still has a classic feel to it to me. Sort of a mid-century modern vibe. I like it. $1199.00

This might just be my favorite one - I've had my eyes on this for a while. It's the Loring from Room & Board. So simple and classic. I think I could live with this for a very long time and be quite happy.
.
.
Then again, this looks pretty darn comfy. And I love it in this darker color! This is the Lounge Sofa from Crate & Barrel. It is made in North Carolina out of a certified sustainable, kiln-dried hardwood frame. Looks so comfortable! Great price too - On special right now for $1359.15

.
This sofa is from Lee Industries. No name on their site, just #1011-03. What pretty and graceful lines on this one - I love it!
.

.
Another one from Lee Industries. No name, just 3012-03. I really like the lower arms and how it looks like they curve around from the back.
.
Shopping for a new sofa isn't easy. It's one of the most expensive furniture purchases most of us will ever make. I'm pretty sure selecting upholstery for a sofa is enough to send some people into a panic! Do you have a favorite? Is there a sofa you have your eyes on?

Happy Friday! I am on my way to the Windy City...Chicago!

Great sofas! I agree, buying a sofa is a big job - we just lived through that here in Dubai and didn't have nearly as many choices as you have here. We ended up ordering an English roll arm from Laura Ashley and love it!!
ReplyDeleteWow, so much to love here! Love the first sofa with the lumbar type pillows! That silhouette is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI love the Room and Board sofa!!!! I want a new one sooo bad as well. But it ain't happenin' anytime soon, so I'll live vicariously through you. :)
ReplyDeleteI like the Eugene or the Loring but the Lounge sofa looks the most comfortable. Fyi - check out my blog today. You may get a kick.
ReplyDeleteGreat sofas! My favorites are the Loring-like the color and the lines; and the #3012-03- I like the solid seat cushion on it. Wonder why those aren't more commom- they seem so much more practical and comfortable. Good luck!

ReplyDeleteI love all of the sofas! The green is my favorite but I am partial. I have green sofas and have always felt welcomed by them (in fact, I just had them recovered after seven years of wear and tear from teenagers and animals). Guess what color I used? Yup! GREEN (grin)
